Christopher David White creates stunning sculptures, but we should clarify right now, for the record, what you're about to see is pure deception. Probably the correct title of this article should be: Mr. White and the art of deception. I have already spoken of deception in this blog, more than once I've posted pictures of artists that distort our perception of reality.

The hyper-realistic sculpture of Christopher David White is deeply inspired by nature and the purpose of his art is to connect the human element and the element nature through the phenomenon of insecurity.

The artist carefully observes the surrounding environment and captures all the signs of decay due to the passage of time. Broken bricks, rust and rotted wood, all of which provide food for thought and inspiration for the American artist.

With his preferred material, clay, reproduces nature's decay and explores the relationship that the ’ man with the passage of time and with nature trying to prove that they are inseparable elements.

Here's what says Christopher David White of his work:

With clay as my medium of choice I then meticulously render by hand those elements, taking advantage of clay’s innate ability to mimic a wide variety of materials. I utilize trompe l’oeil as a stylistic choice to emphasize the concept that our understanding of the world is an illusion. The juxtaposition of natural and man-made features in combination with the skewing of scale, proportion, and material, helps in creating an altered perception – forcing the viewer to look closer.

The result is truly amazing, This hyper-realistic sculpture is made of ceramics, but the eye is tricked by the shape that recalls the wood. For one fleeting glimpse you can see a face sufferer in a wooden log, deformed and mangled by water that has torn apart the cortex leaving the face split.

Fiction by masters of deception. It is made with ceramic sculpture in smaller and minute details.
