Ibarcare on the internet for some it may be a problem, wouldn't be a novelty feel dramatic stories related to the world of web. What I will tell you today is the story of Lindsay Bottos that struck me particularly for the sincerity of character and at the same time for the idiocy of human being.

With order: Lindsay Bottos is a young American artist who chose the platform Tumblr to load selfie and personal works. Nothing new, more or less what do almost all emerging artists and not. The affair in question is revealed when she starts to receive a significant amount of anonymous messages related to her selfies. From 2010 she received hundreds of cruel messages that do not spare her physical appearance and “philosophy of life”.

Since I first began an online presence at the age of thirteen, I've been receiving anonymous harassment. Women, especially young women, receive an astonishingly disproportionate amount of harassment online ranging from comments on appearance to threats of rape and violence. In this series, I attempt to explore this issue by contrasting some of the malicious comments I've received with self-portraits. The portraits, or “selfies”, are recreations of the original images that the harassing comments were addressing. With this simple gesture, I intend to demonstrate the cruelness of the comments while exposing and examining this phenomenon.

Some messages verge on the absurd and are almost smiling for the idiocy of content, but most are real insults. What is certain is that the web is like real life, You can't expect to please everyone, but when you don't like the people on the web comes into play the’ANONYMITY. At that point, it's like being there but does not have the obligation to put the face, like in real life.

So if there are people who have questionable morals in real life… just imagine the web thing can become.

In this case misogyny on the web, but leads to an interesting project for all those women and girls who daily suffer similar treatment. Rather than get discouraged and feel victim (and only victim) our artist takes the bull by the horns and publishes selfie of shame.
