One of the things that more reproach to myself is that he had never visited Rome. For an Italian this is something quite shocking. Both because it's one of the richest city in the history, both because it's the seat of our Government. I sprinkle ashes on my head also considered that for a passionate film a ride at Cinecitta would really be great. Can I use the excuse that I was close many times? The last one this new year's Eve, but then nothing.
Surfing on Facebook I found a really interesting page: Roma Ieri Oggi. I must say that I liked right away for so many reasons, the recovery of collective memory through photos of neighborhoods or city known angles, combined with a fantastic selection of frames stolen to cinema which over the years have made Rome an iconic city.
As you can see from the photos below, these are small masterpieces cultural and historical about the city and also on habits, its culture and people that populate. Even in my wildest towns fantasies I never imagined that in a small square in front of a church a shoe seller presents its products occupying all the way. Yet that photo automatically redirects my memory to an endless series of images of the postwar period in Italy. Images often look alike although the cities are different.
The result of this mix of historical epochs brings to our mind trumped as in movies, or real as tales our grandparents. Is like a fantastic game of creativity and memory: recognize movie, the actor, the street. Whoever comes first WINS.
I find that it is really an interesting experiment and would be fun to see it applied to other cities.
