This article is dedicated to photography but in truth the topics that will address are different: art, design and my favorite material ever… the paper. How come all these elements in a single article? The answer is simpler than ever, today we speak of Christian Tagliavini. Official photographer but I think artist 360 degrees, and now we find out why.

Christian Tagliavini was born in 1971 in Italian Switzerland and officially makes the working photographer, but knowing and discovering better his work you can safely discover more behind one click. Before 2000 Christian Tagliavini took care of graphics working on several agencies and experimenting with different forms of communication. The photography officially entered into his life with an exhibition of renowned photographer Patrick Demarchelier, perhaps more known for fashion services.

From a year now I am only in this, cowever I struggle to find a definition for me and I feel uncomfortable if I called photographer. According to me the other photographers are, the great masters: Ghirri, Doiesneau… all those who use the camera without artifice and seize the moment. My idea of photographer is far from what I am.

My favorite projects are the last three because the end result is composed of different elements. Behind a shot there's lots of historical and artistic research, as you'd expect, but even direct design. In the series “Cards” (the last) and “Dame di cartone” you can see that the costumes are designed and handmade with paper and cardboard with technique of papercut and then the artisan aspect becomes critical to the final outcome, a value added.

While in the series “1503” the photographer has personally made clothes with luxurious fabrics that give the idea of heaviness and have a stiffness very similar to that of the paper. In this case the inspiration comes directly from art, it is inspired by the work of the florentine artist Agnolo Bronzino. The project is an experiment and a successful mix of fashion, painting, tailoring technique and of course photography.
