I really like the work of the Hungarian photographer Flora Borsi. To be honest the projects that interest me are three and why I like them so much is that they all have to do with the transformation, the manipulation of reality through photography.
But it's not just the manipulation to get interested, most of the questions that the photographer has to realize her projects: How would it be use Photoshop in real life? What effect would travel in time? Capture the most important events in history, sharing photos on social? Or, better yet, that would be if models of abstract works were real?
Too many questions and I realize that it may confound. Projects that answer the questions above in order are:
Photoshop in real life
Do better makeup, squeeze a pimple before an important date and also resize a major nose. A clone stamp, an filter more intense and you're done. In this project Borsi made of self-portraits very explanatory, if you could use Photoshop in real life ? How would be eliminate any possible defect in our body? Probably been like all the much-criticized beauties to covers, some all the same, all photoshopped, all fake…
Time travel
Travel through time and go back into the past to choose to visit historical places or iconic moments armed only with smartphone or digital camera to capture some of the celebrities of history. Imagine being able to capture Woody Allen while running a scene and posting it on Instagram, This is what Borsi made, photographing herself posing and in famous picture with Elvis, Marilyn Monroe, the Beatles, e Andy Warhol. The photos are done so well that at first glance hardly notice the fixing of the plastic posthumously.
The real life models
The Italian painter Modigliani is famous for his subjects by long necks and tapered, eyes narrowed just mentioned. Inspiration of artist or copy from real? Is there really a person with giraffe neck and imperscutabilmente look away? Stylized? Unlikely, but the photographer has created a fun selection of retouched models based on paintings by artists such as Picasso, Hausner, Modigliani and Malevich, wondering if they really existed with those physical characteristics.
