Here we are and as promised in this second part we are still immersed in a world of paper. This time, after talking about literature and Sweden in previous article, find a project that makes travel on tracks parallel literature and whimsical art jewellery. Ok, It is jewelry low cost, given that the main material is inexpensive and held together equally low, but as usual the sense of recycling, for this blog, always wins.
The other time we stopped with a nice little story and trumpeted creativity made in Sweden with birch and creative bindings, but in this second round our interest moves around on a man and in particular on Jeremy May.
Some time ago a friend of mine told me a story, absolutely true, that draws inspiration from an idea extra abused in literature and cinematography of half the world. But, hey... what can we do? When you are short of ideas you must do everything you can. What can a young guy invent today when attending the high school and he can't learn Latin? He copies.
No scandal given that all students have copied something at least once in their life and if it was not Latin was, anyway, some other hateful subject. But how do you copy in creative way and try not to get hooked? The smarter have already get the solutions (and have all my personal admiration), for all other explanation includes, art attack style: an cutter, an vocabulary Latin and a Ipod with a huge library of ready-made translations. A fun version of, ben more blasphemous, the Bible with a flask of liquor.
As someone has the bright idea of putting an iPod in a book then why not put too much? And in this case we thought just Jeremy May with his literary jewels. The system used is exactly the same as shown above and creations are available in book form although absolutely unreadable, since in the middle of reading you might find a jewel tucked in a cavity excavated between pages.
The idea is exactly that exploit the technique laminating, spreadsheet on sheet carved in the book and (I think) then immersed in a solution that makes it tough and hardened. The idea besides being cute is also equipped with fine points such as the wide range of products that can be achieved using the idea of lamination, among the rings (my favorites), bracelets, earrings and necklaces of experimentation possibilities are endless.
Each piece is unique because it is made of several layers of colored paper or printed from the books of every kind. All those layers of paper are truly a great asset especially if skilfully mixed to create a fun decorative motif unorthodox but very creative. Some of his creations even can't seem to even made with the card, such as the necklace shown here above (Red and black). What I still haven't figured out is: the work is done by hand or we can safely say that the laser put the hand?
If anyone has bought or will buy one of the jewels of paper by Jeremy May why don't tell us? So I'll burst with envy. The site is here.
